Welcome!
My name is Julie Orrok Slack and while I’m a Maine native, I’ve lived in New Hampshire for the past 24 years. I have always loved to write and when I decided (at the ripe ole’ age of 40!) to continue on with my Master Degree, I took the opportunity to finish a novel! Having Stephen King as an alumni of my high school allows me to think, ‘What the heck! If he can do it, so can I!’ He was a huge inspiration in my life as a teen, and while my writing is quite different, I’ve never forgotten the thrill and anticipation of a new Stephen King book coming to a bookstore near me! It fostered a love of reading and writing that I still carry today.
I’m an avid hiker too, which my dogs are very thankful for! I am lucky enough to have a wonderful stretch of woods complete with an old Class VI road that makes it easy to lace up the boots and head out every morning before my 9-5. On the weekends I try to pry my two teenagers out from in front of their computers and have them come with me (but that rarely happens)! Someday they’ll appreciate the quiet solitude it affords me!
